Covid Protocols

SETC, as a producer of a very large indoor event and one that spans several days, has a responsibility to our many constituents and other business entities to do our due diligence for everyone’s safety.  The last thing we want is to become a super spreader event or be forced to shut down Convention and send everyone home early.

SETC is setting forth the following COVID protocols for Convention.  If conditions become better, we will/can rescind some of these items, but for now, we want everyone interested in attending in-person to know that we are doing all that is reasonably possible for your protection and comfort.  The theatre industry’s unions (with many producing/hiring companies following lead) are requiring and re-opening with similar protocols.  What’s below is all subject to change, but it’s where we begin for now.

COVID vaccination will be required. Upon daily entry to Convention premises, participants will be required to provide documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination (with final dose date no later than February 23, 2022) or as an alternative, documentation of a recent negative COVID-19 test. Please be prepared to present either your original vaccination card, a printed copy, or a digital copy of such card, prior to entry each time.  Unvaccinated attendees must have received a negative COVID-19 diagnostic test within 72-hours of March 9, 2022 and provide proof of a negative result prior to entry.  It’s recommended that attendees by prepared to have a copy of their card/test ready to paste to the back of their Convention badges for entry check/convenience.

Masks will be required at all times.  Unless you are an actor performing an audition, masks will be required for all workshops, activities, social gatherings, etc. unless eating/drinking.  At this time, Shelby County, TN has a mask mandate.  We’ll continue to evaluate.  We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

Temperature checks will be made.   There will be only two total entrances to the Convention Center and Cannon Center (site of the Secondary School Theatre Festival).  Those with a high temperature will be asked to make way to an onsite rapid testing room.

Certified COVID Compliance Officers will be onsite.  They will be members of a private Memphis health care company in charge of temperature checks, rapid testing, consulting, and issues that might arise.

The Renasant Convention Center has GBAC Star Facility Accreditation for its demonstration of superior ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from bio-risk and infectious disease situations.

The Renasant Convention Center ventilation system is standard with outside air and economizer mode on all units and meets all codes required.  Units run continuously, year round.

Virtual options will be available for attendees to participate from home … see the VIRTUAL OPTIONS page on this website.  SETC is carefully monitoring/following CDC guidelines and coordinating with local health authorities (Shelby County, TN) and agencies.  We appreciate everyone’s patience, cooperation, and feedback.  If you have questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail SETC’s Executive Director at
