Mar. 2, 2021

Hard deadline for candidates to register for convention, select Graduate Auditions/Interviews, and upload audition/interview materials.

Theatre school representatives seek students for their graduate theatre programs at the annual SETC Convention. Prospective students can submit a virtual audition or display design/tech portfolios for all participating recruiting schools in one convenient location. SETC’s Graduate Auditions/Interviews are ideal if you want to enter graduate school for theatre, seek exposure to multiple schools with one trip and one audition/interview, and/or are a working theatre professional wishing to pursue an advanced degree. Candidates will upload audition materials/digital portfolios and recruiting institutions will both create a gallery page in our virtual convention platform. Students from anywhere in the country can register for convention and participate in the audition/interview process.

In order to participate in the 2021 SETC Graduate Auditions/Interviews, students are required to register as individuals and colleges/universities are required to register as organizations. Once you have registered, you will receive an email with further information and instructions about how to access your selected opportunities.

Candidates

Due to the recent weather events causing school closures, power outages and delays, recruiting institutions will receive a link to access candidate materials on March 1. If you have not registered, the deadline is Feb. 28. To register for the convention, click here and select the Undergraduate or Graduate Auditions add-on. Once you complete and pay for registration, you will be sent a link to complete the Undergraduate or Graduate Auditions application. Here you will need to upload any materials that you wish to share including audition video or portfolio items depending on if you are auditioning for performance programs or interviewing for technical programs.
Due to the recent weather events causing school closures and power outages, we have delayed the release of the recruiting schools list. The link to the galleries will be emailed to you at 8 a.m. ET, Monday, March 1. You can search, filter and sort the schools – and “star” programs that are most interesting to you.

Interviews/Callbacks:
When a recruiting program is interested in speaking with you, they will email you directly and ask you to visit their page, review their information, and click on the “Schedule a Meeting” button. This will allow you to schedule a meeting with a program’s representative.
Please Note: Some schools may not have a page or button to schedule a meeting. Those schools will directly email you and provide instructions on how they plan to connect with you.

Recruiting Schools

All candidates have created individual pages that include their contact information and interview materials (for technical candidates) or audition videos (for performance candidates). Due to the recent weather events causing school closures, power outages and delays, recruiting institutions will receive a link to access the Undergraduate and Graduate Candidate materials at 8 a.m. ET, Monday, March 1. Candidates are sortable, searchable, and you will have the ability to “star” candidates most interesting to you.

Interviews:
You need to provide a link that provides auditionees with the ability to schedule an interview during the week of the convention (we recommend outlook, calendly, appointlet, or acquity scheduling) and a video conferencing platform (we recommend zoom or gotomeeting) where the interview can occur. You set the times and dates that work for you.
If you have not already provided this link when registering, you will need to contact SETC with your link to insert that onto your page for you.

Interviews can happen in two ways

  1. You reach out to a candidate
Using the candidate materials we provide you, identify the candidates you wish to invite to an interview, locate their contact information on their candidate page, and reach out to them directly to utilize your scheduling link to set up an interview.
  2. The candidate reaches out to you
Similar to a traditional in-person year, if you are participating in the Educational Expo, attendees will also be able to view your organization’s materials via the virtual Educational Expo. If you have provided a scheduling link, they will be able to book an interview even if you do not contact them.

Please Note: If your institution has opted out of an Educational Expo booth and communicates with a candidate, please establish a process for how the candidate should connect with you.
